gradually picking up.. .

CRITICAL READING a bane to US-bound students?well, it certainly is.to the majority.
Having given the task to write on our coping in SAT..reading in particular.
hmm..
its still a long long journey.an unending learning process of life.i'm positive that even IF we were to hit bullseye right at this tormenting acronym, life has js began. i'm not at all intending to give solace to myself or rather to comfort my so waywardly life.but this is a palpable fact.

back to the given prompt..
having used yu jin's technique in coping with CR.it did help me as a matter of fact.a good start to be precise.it made me reason out that to do well in CR, one need not be smart or brilliant..one simply requires ample techniques and mastery skills.
saying it is merely being naive.but i have to, cause most of us have yet to grasp those skills. . .well, excluding our wonderful Queen Tanuja of course.
anyhow, for those noobies like me, nothing to worry about.
the key to this mastery is to DO more exercise.work ur butts off..till wee hours of the morning.woohoo.. .
nothing in this world is incomprehensible.thats right-including SAT!!!

as said by yu jin ''u need to learn to love SAT.if u do, u will by all means do anything to avoid hurting it''..this is so literal.
but friends..we have to start LOVING SAT...it must begin..
right now...or never. . .

Visualization

Visualization or so-called Silver-minded (some call it optimism) is a very very important skill that you have to learn to do anything in life. Of cos what you have to aim for now is definitely the application process to the States!!! It's about Law Of Attraction , which is about how things in life will turn out to be true when you perceive that they will happen !!!

Let me share a story with you :
The Blind Boy

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?"
The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way."What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day and I cannot see it."
Do you think the first sign and the second sign were saying the same thing? Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind.
Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:
Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.Invite others towards good with wisdom. Live life with no excuse and love with no regrets. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.
Great men say, "Life has to be an incessant process of repair and reconstruction, of discarding evil and developing goodness! In the journey of life, if you want to travel without fear, you must have the ticket of a good conscience."The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling! And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!

At the verge of admitting defeat?

At the very age of 6, I've been muttering aimlessly to my parents and brothers that I, SOPHIA TEH WEE CHENG will never stay put in Malaysia. I'm gonna fly one day. Having proclaiming it repeatedly, my parents were equivocal of this intention of mine. They were not so convinced. Since young, being the only girl among my siblings, I'm often regarded as the 'NOT SO' brilliant one. My brothers were able to tackle Year6 math sums with ease at the age of 10, while I'm on the other hand struggling with math sums of my respective year. I tend to shed tears furtively in the corner, feeling so abased and dejected. My brothers were sensible enough. I hear them speaking to my mum ‘bout it. It hurts. It did...at first. Gradually, I picked up. It was indeed an experience. Well, I shan't mention bout it. Anyway, studying in a school (CONVENT), that highly accentuates the significance of academic excellence, I grew 'smarter' in a way. At some point, I felt contented with myself. Having attained a rather reasonable level of intellect, I was pleased.

To cut the story short, I felt worthy of this scholarship. A dream come true alas.US here I come!! lalalalalala. . .I was on cloud 9 for days, till recently. It finally dawned on me, how I've esconced myself to this earthly blessing. .being too caught up with the pleasures of life .. only realizing recently that, 'hey, I'm still in Malaysia!' As long as I don't do remarkably well for my SATs, I will never step a foot in the states.

I felt wretched especially yesterday during the diagnostic test given by YU JIN. I wasn't able to comprehend those exercises. I wasn't even aware on how abstruse it is to digest the techniques of scoring well in CR. As I had expected to, I scored rather badly for those exercises. It wasn't me who wanted to compete with my friends, it was this deep longing in me who wanted to be acknowledged, even a little.

Deep within me, I blamed no one but myself. I realised that they were right; I will never be able to fly. I had once again let them down and very badly: I made a few resolutions. A distinct one highlighted : 'It is still not too late'.

7 tips to tackle SAT questions :

Kindle = Try not to think that SAT is a Stupid American Test, but think it as a Self Assessment Test.

Attain = Set a target score for every section. It will motivate you indirectly to strive for the best.

New = Memorize new vocabularies everyday.(http://wordahead.com/Home/tabid/37/Default.aspx , do utilize this website, it's easier for you to learn new words)

Apply = Apply the new words into your writing or daily conversation.

Structure = Be familiar with the structure and format of SAT questions.

Adept = Do more exercises in order to get use the types of questions. (It's better to train yourself to do it in one stroke so that you wont feel exhausted during the real test.)

ISA = Ikut Suka Aku, this method is only applicable when you totally have no idea about the question. (My advice is don't miss every question since if you get wrong , 0.25 points will be deducted but if it's correct , you'll gain 1 point. It's more worthy to tembak, hamtam, "shoot" or tiang the answer.)

All the best !!! ^^
